The Nicis Institute in Den Haag is the Netherlands’ premier metropolitan
institute. Founded in 2001, it brings together 36 Dutch cities and
eight government ministries. Operating at both the national and
international level, it aims to reinforce the economic and social
strength of cities and their way of governance.

<p>NICIS concentrates on six themes at the metropolitan level:</p>
